// Biomedical Engineering //
As a senior in Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M University, I have gained extensive experience and knowledge in the field of healthcare and medical devices. I have always been interested in incorporating healthcare, medical devices, consulting, and academic research into my career aspirations, and Biomedical Engineering has provided me with the perfect platform to pursue my passions.
Throughout my academic journey, I have worked diligently to develop my leadership, team effort, and research skills. I have been involved in two research labs, one focused on developing innovative ADHD therapeutics and the other utilizing machine learning algorithms in wearable electronics. My experiences in these labs have not only broadened my knowledge but also inspired me to ask more questions and seek out new opportunities.
One of my most fulfilling experiences was working in the biomedical research lab under Dr. Guiseppi towards understanding ADHD adherence to therapeutic electronic applications. Our lab implemented medical devices that would be used for adolescent therapy and diagnosis of ADHD. We received funding from a national science association, and our academic paper, where I am documented as a co-author, was published in the Sci-Lit academic journal. The lab was highly industry and pharmaceutics focused, and I had the opportunity to interview multiple medical professionals and apply electronic components and accelerometer coding to our medical device.
In addition to this, I also worked on Machine Learning Algorithms to Flexible Electronics with Supercapacitors. My role in this project involved literature review and algorithm code writing. Languages such as Python and JavaScript were used to code machine learning algorithms like KNN, ANN, and MARS to test the "capacitance" of an alkaline solution. This experience implanted my curiosity for biomechanical design and industry, narrowing my career interests into a corporate healthcare consulting position. Where I would strive to utilize experience in biomechanics to fabricate and innovate medical devices applied in communities, hospitals, and areas in need.
Biomedical Engineering is the perfect blend of design, math, and biology, which are the three subjects that inspire me the most. I have found my passion in this major and I am eager to explore all the opportunities it has to offer. As a rising Biomedical Engineer, I know that I will be a valuable asset and representation to any program, while presenting a willingness to learn and collaborate with others.
I am proud to share that our team won the senior design capstone project contests in a three-way tie on April 28, 2023, during my senior year. This accomplishment has solidified my confidence in my abilities and my dedication to my field.
Looking towards the future, my plans are to continue making exceptional progress in becoming a successful Aggie leader with an Aggie ring, making a positive impact on the community around me, and writing my story. I am dedicated and inspired to fulfill my potential academically, athletically, and professionally. I hope to build a strong academic and personal foundation that will promote my leadership skills and capabilities. Through courage, determination, and timely patience, I will give 110% effort in all my endeavors to prepare myself for any opportunity. I believe that Biomedical Engineering is where I am meant to be, and I am excited to see where this path takes me in the future.
